Why Choose Video?
As a future bride, you are faced with many decisions before your big day. Where is the ceremony going to be held? What dress do I buy? How many people should I invite? Etc… For today’s brides however, there has been an additional question added to the list; “Video or No Video?”
In today’s society, it’s hard to go anywhere without being exposed to the far reaches of technology and cameras. They are on our phones, our cars, our baby monitors…you get the picture (pardon the pun), but do they belong on your wedding day? In order to answer that question, I feel you should begin with a needs assessment.
Do I really NEED a Videographer?
The answer to this question is simply, no. With or without a videographer, you can still have a ceremony, get married, and live happily ever after. However, we all know that there’s more to getting married than just simply saying “I Do.” This is where video comes into play.
For you and your spouse, your wedding day is all about creating memories together. Video was designed to help you capture and preserve those memories. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but capturing theemotion of that moment is priceless. A well trained videographer is taught to capture both established and candid shots in order to truly preserve every moment of your day, even the ones that you didn’t know were happening.
Is the price worth the payoff?
This is hands down the most difficult question to answer as a soon-to-be bride. I would instead ask myself, “Is the price right for me?” Everyone’s style and budget are different, so when choosing, take your time and request prices and examples of their work. The footage is only as good as the editing, so don’t rule anyone out until you’ve seen some of their finished work.
With modern technology so readily available, many brides find themselves asking, “Can’t I just have someone film with a smart phone or action camera?” Absolutely! If a video service just isn’t in the budget, there are many affordable cameras, apps, and accessories that will allow you to capture your big day in HD. That being said, remember that not all cameras are created equal. Do your homework to help you avoid picking a camera known for distortion and exposure problems.
Is video right for me?
That is ultimately the question that only you can decide. However, one thing I can tell you for certain, video is everywhere and it looks like its here to stay.
